- StopOverdose.org shows you where to find naloxone (also known as Narcan) in your community. All of these locations provide free naloxone.
- All pharmacies in Washington are able to provide naloxone to people directly and without a prescription. Discount cards like ArrayRx Card can help lower the price of naloxone if you don’t have insurance. Call the pharmacy ahead of time to check if they have naloxone in stock.
- If you do not have a place to get naloxone in your area, you can request free naloxone by mail in Washington state.
- On March 29, 2023, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the first over-the-counter (OTC) naloxone nasal spray. The timeline for availability and price of OTC naloxone are still unknown.
On July 28, 2023, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved a second over the counter (OTC) naloxone nasal spray.
- Nasal spray naloxone is now available for purchase over the counter. Most pharmacies, including nationwide retailers like Rite-Aid, Walgreens, and CVS, sell nasal spray naloxone for between $40 to $50.
- Naloxone is the generic name for the opioid overdose reversal medication. Brand names include Narcan and RiVive.
